Cornerstone Congratulates South Carolina REALTORS® on Legislative Victory

For the last several years, the South Carolina REALTORS® have fought to change a law that requires homes and properties to be assessed when sold---know as “Point of Sale.”   After an intense grassroots and legislative campaign, the law passed and Governor Niki Haley signed the provision into law in mid June of this year.

In early 2010, after seeing the devastating impact on the state’s economy and jobs as a result of the point of sale provision, The South Carolina REALTORS engaged in a comprehensive statewide communications program educating the public, opinion leaders and elected officials about the impact of the law.

The association used a blend of traditional communication tactics---TV, radio and direct mail---along with the power of the Internet and social media as part of their campaign.  The communications campaign was designed to engage citizens, industry leaders and opinion leaders to compliment the organization’s top-notch lobbying efforts. Cornerstone Solutions served on the communications team as part of the campaign.

“We congratulate the South Carolina REALTORS®, their leadership and staff, in their recent victory to reform point of sale, and get South Carolina’s economy back on track,” said Chris Sinclair, partner with Cornerstone Solutions.  “We are humbled and honored to be part of this extraordinary effort and victory.”
