Sarasota Tomorrow

Challenge: In 2008, the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce launched a new program called Sarasota Tomorrow. The objective of the initiative was to bring all of Sarasota's diverse community groups, citizen advocacy groups and businesses together to address the challenges and needs of the Sarasota region. Having successfully raised the funds and formed the program, the Chamber needed help developing a message and plan to communicate with citizens about Sarasota Tomorrow.
Solution: The Sarasota Chamber turned to Cornerstone for assistance. Our firm performed extensive survey research and community analysis to help craft a simple message aimed at winning over the hearts and minds of Sarasota residents to help solve the community's challenges and improve the quality of life. Our communications plan and messages served as a basis for a community wide media campaign to spread the word about Sarasota. We also developed a community outreach and coalition building program for the Chamber that included:
- Strategic counsel
- Messaging
- Polling and focus groups
- Coalition building
- Issue management
Result: The Chamber successfully launched the campaign and has been working through Sarasota Tomorrow to build coalitions, address pressing issues and reach consensus to address the community's many challenges. Our messages served as a basis for an award-winning series of TV and radio ads produced by Cap Creative, a local Sarasota advertising agency.
